Atrioventricular Reciprocating Tachycardia (AVRT)
Etiology:
- Circular movement of an impulse down the AV node and back up to the atrium through a bypass tract
- Seen in Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome
Signs and Symptoms:
- Shortness of breath
- Palpitation
- Angina
- Light-headedness
- Syncope
ECG Findings:
Retrograde P wave is often seen after a normal QRS
Treatments:
- Valsalva
- Caroted massage
- Adenosine
- Cardioversion if hemodynamically unstable
